Our CPG Ontario Line Rolling Stock and Systems department is hiring a Senior Project Manager, Rolling Stock – RSSOM OL. This role provides comprehensive engineering and project management services to support the delivery of the Rapid Transit Implementation Program. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for contract and schedule management, design, production and manufacturing quality, safety and security requirements compliance, financial accountability, project deliverables, and providing technical input to program communications and intergovernmental relations throughout all phases of design and construction.
What will I be doing?- Manage the efficient delivery of rolling stock fleet elements through project activities including preliminary design, detailed design, preparation of contract documents, construction, contract management and commissioning activities.
- Assist with feasibility and environmental studies, and the development and assessment of alternative delivery options to meet market and business conditions relating to the design, manufacturing, delivery and testing of rolling stock fleet, where required.
- Deliver projects from initial conception through commissioning and transfer to Operations within scope, on budget and on schedule; oversee project activities to ensure compliance with good project management practices as well as corporate design standards and applicable municipal, provincial and federal codes.
- Communicate effectively with agencies and other external stakeholders to define requirements, develop project implementation plans and monitor compliance for rolling stock fleet; deliver proper ongoing communication and consultation with external and internal stakeholders and elected officials.
- Lead the rolling stock fleet delivery process and works closely with key stakeholders (e.g. Infrastructure Ontario) to ensure management and completion of key deliverables and representation of Metrolinx interests.
- Recommend and implement corrective action plans where variances in program plan execution occur, communicate with internal and external stakeholders, and negotiate change orders and revised schedules.
- Manage a diverse group of professionals, including project specialists and consultants to accomplish the goals of the agency within established scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Manage value engineering, risk assessment, life cycle costing, earned value and constructability reviews.
- A University degree in Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is an asset. PMP certification is strongly desired.
- Demonstrated progressively responsible experience in capital project management and implementation, including at least five years of experience managing large, complex, multi-year transit projects, preferably for light rail and/or subway transit and operating systems and related works.
- Proven experience in rolling stock fleet design and delivery, with particular experience with fleet elements of driverless train technology (GoA4 or similar), system integration, testing, commissioning, and validation.
- If driving is a requirement of the role, a valid Ontario Class ‘G’ driver’s license is required to travel to various site locations, meetings, operational facilities, etc. Must meet and maintain the corporate standard for a good driving record.
