Underneath all of our products is a massive web of partners that users don’t see, that require significant product and process investment. That’s where the Financial Partnerships team comes in. The Financial Partnership team maintains our external relationships and streamlines our collective workflows to keep customers, partners, and Mercury employees happy.
As a Senior Financial Partnerships Manager, you’ll oversee and expand Mercury’s portfolio of strategic payment partners—including independent payment processors, existing banking partners, and newly onboarded relationships. These partners are essential to our ability to deliver secure, seamless, and innovative payment experiences to customers.
This is a highly cross-functional role requiring constant collaboration with Product, Engineering, Compliance, Operations, and Legal teams. You’ll serve as the primary point of contact for external partners while internally championing their requests, initiatives, and constraints - balancing external expectations with internal priorities. You should be an expert communicator, capable of translating complex partner needs into actionable workstreams, and following them through to completion with clarity and alignment.
Beyond managing existing partners, you’ll lead efforts to identify and evaluate new partnership opportunities that align with our payments strategy. This includes market mapping, due diligence, relationship cultivation, and strategic planning. You’ll bring a thoughtful mix of product interest, operational understanding, and relationship skills to help us grow our network in a smart and strategic way.

You will:
- Manage a portfolio of strategic Payment partnerships
- Be the driving force behind building Mercury’s network of Payment relationships
- Sell the impact and value of being a partner to Mercury, while negotiating the best returns/outcomes for Mercury
- Be the internal expert on payment ecosystems and build our knowledge base on how this system works
- Work closely with Legal and Finance to negotiate new contracts with our bank partners and help manage revenue
- Manage new partner selection and ecosystem expansion
- Unblock internal teams wherever possible and advocate for Mercury’s roadmap to drive efficiency for internal teams
- Clearly communicate the compliance, regulatory, and technical products of Mercury accurately in order to liaison between product teams and win over external partners
You should:
- Have 6+ years of relevant banking/payment operations experience and 3+ years of payment experience
- Be a strong partnership leader who enjoys growing your accounts
- Be an excellent communicator both internally and externally and a highly organized project manager
- Consistently exercise empathy
- Have a strong product sense
- Be an excellent negotiator
- Be technically inclined or comfortable enough with technical concepts to interface between technical teams inside and outside of Mercury.

- Be able to simplify complex systems and problems into manageable steps and document them accordingly.
The total rewards package at Mercury includes base salary, equity (stock options), and benefits.
Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry. New hire offers are made based on a candidate’s experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers.
Our target new hire base salary ranges for this role are the following:
- US employees in New York City, Seattle, Los Angeles or San Francisco: $171,000 - $213,700
- US employees outside of New York City, Seattle, Los Angeles or San Francisco: $153,900 - $192,300
- Canadian employees (any location): CAD 161,600 - 201,900
