Position: Security Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:
As part of our Event Services Team, the Security Supervisor will be supervising Event Security employees, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures while making sure every guest who enters Rogers Arena has a safe and enjoyable experience during hockey games and concerts. This is a part-time, hourly, events-based position. A typical shift includes:
- Supervising Event Security employees, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures
- Supervising an assigned area in the building for effective crowd management
- Monitoring floor traffic and staff deployments
- Communicating appropriate event incidents and reports to duty managers
- Creating a positive work environment for staff by providing ongoing clear, specific, and timely coaching, recognition, and feedback to ensure operational success
- Serving the needs of guests and making necessary operational decisions to ensure guests receive direct, personable service and immediate results
- Responding to guest problems/evictions and ensuring appropriate action is taken by staff
- Communicating with other operations groups (i.e. Ticketmaster, Impark, etc.) to ensure event and guest needs are met
- Assisting with the onboarding of new employees, including recruiting and training
- Participating in supervisor team meetings to identify ideas, processes, systems, skill upgrading, and information that would assist the supervisor team and the company’s efforts to achieve total customer and employee satisfaction
- Other duties as required
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- Must be able to work weeknights, weekends, and holidays with a start time of approximately 5:00pm
- Must be able to physically manage an unruly guest
- Must be able to handle periodic lifting requirements of approximately 30 lbs. of weight
- Must be able to stand, walk, and ascend stairs for the duration of the shift if necessary
- Must be able to work in a noisy and crowded environment and use a radio
- Must possess a valid Security License
- Several years of supervisory experience in the service industry, including experience in hiring, motivating, coaching, and directing a sizable group of unionized employees
- Experience in a security role in the event or service industry
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to act positively and professionally with a diverse client group (i.e. the general public, senior management, business partners, promoters, etc.)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to address a group of staff and present information and instructions in a clear manner
- Excellent problem solving and crisis management skills while remaining calm and professional
- Friendly and approachable team player; able to gain trust of management and direct reports
- Presence in the form of personal authority and maturity
- Completion of a First Aid certificate and/or WHMIS training is an asset
- Non-Canadian residents must hold valid work permits that expire no earlier than March 2026
