Supportive Housing Program
The Holyrood Supportive Housing (SH) Program provides a safe, supervised residence with staff coverage 24/7 for adults who require significant permanent support to maintain their independence in the community. The program operates in a 4-storey 63-unit SH Building and is run by an SH team of program staff providing daily living support to the 63 participants in the program. The Program Manager oversees the day-to-day operations, program staff, and service delivery of the Holyrood SH program. Supervised by the Director of Housing and Clinical Services, the Program Manager is responsible for creating a positive, safe environment for program staff and building residents.
The Second Team Lead at Holyrood Supportive Housing will work collaboratively with the Team Lead, under the direction of the Program Manager, to support the day-to-day operations and housing management of the 24-hour site. The Team Lead and Second Team Lead will share responsibility for supervision of staff, program delivery, and ensuring a safe and recovery-focused environment for participants.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Program Manager to ensure adherence to accreditation standards and GSS organizational and program policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Provide strong, recovery-focused leadership to sustain a safe and respectful work environment by using effective communication, team building, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills to support staff, encourage reflective practice, and promote quality service delivery and positive team dynamics.
- Supervise and support staff to ensure consistent recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, harm reduction, and client-centred approaches are integrated into all aspects of daily operations.
- Share responsibility with the Program Manager and Case Managers on the implementation and ongoing review of service models, care pathways, and policies to ensure continuous quality improvement that promotes participant success and recovery.
- Maintain accurate, timely data entry, reporting, and documentation that reflects participant progress, recovery goals, and supports.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager on quality improvement initiatives, staff recruitment, and training that emphasizes participant recovery, dignity, and empowerment.
- Attend Homeward Trust and GSS leadership meetings and/or working groups, case conferencing, and external partner meetings as needed to ensure alignment with recovery-focused best practices.
- Provide in-community and on-site support as needed, modeling recovery-oriented principles of hope, choice, and empowerment.
- Administrative duties as needed and other responsibilities as assigned.
Shift Coverage Structure
- The Team Lead and Second Team Lead will primarily oversee AM/PM shifts, ensuring strong leadership during the busiest hours of participant engagement, programming, and case management.
- Together, the two positions will collaborate to provide seamless, 24-hour recovery-focused leadership presence at Holyrood.
Position Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in a Human Services field with 2–3 years of direct supervisory experience in a residential or supportive housing setting.
- Strong understanding and demonstrated application of recovery principles, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and client-centred approaches rooted in dignity, hope, and healing.
- Experience working with people navigating complex life circumstances including substance-related disorders, mental health issues, mobility challenges, and homelessness.
- Knowledge of the addictions and recovery field, referral resources, and health services available for vulnerable populations.
- Understanding of inner-city issues and systemic barriers faced by marginalized communities.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with an ability to build and sustain recovery-oriented team dynamics.
- Open, accepting, and non-judgmental attitude with the ability to build rapport with residents and staff while supporting self-determination and empowerment.
- Familiarity with recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Inquiry, with a commitment to advancing Indigenous cultural safety in recovery-focused housing.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check.
- Valid Alberta Driver’s Licence and access to a personal vehicle with $2 million liability insurance, with the ability to transport clients as deemed necessary.
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday. 8 hours per day. 6-month contract
