School Chef

The cook is responsible for duties relating to the purchasing, preparation and serving of snacks and meals for a daycare.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Duties will include but are not limited to the following

• Preparing snacks and lunch for toddlers, preschoolers and kindergarden aged children, up to 130 children.
• Ability to cook meals and bake from scratch.
• Must be able to make lunch accommodating dietary restrictions and allergies.
• Has a large knowledge of kitchen preparation and ministry of health inspections
• Ensuring the kitchen is kept clean and sanitary at all times, washing snack and lunch dishes, cups, cutlery, containers etc.
• Setting up bins for snacks and lunch
• Maintaining proper temperatures of food and keeping a log
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
• Works with a positive attitude and as a team player
• Have the physical stamina and ability to kneel, bend, lift and stand for extended periods.
• Substitute as needed in a classroom as a helper
• Assist in other tasks as needed
• CRP and First Aid required
• Food Handler Certificate required
• Hours are from 8am to 4pm

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week

Experience:

• chef: 1 year (preferred)
• cooking: 3 years (preferred)
