Qualifications:

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
• Current BCLS certification
• Must have started Coronary Care Nursing 1 (or equivalent) within 1 year of start date
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in acute medical, palliative and oncology nursing is required.
• Must demonstrate satisfactory performance of the following RPN skills:
  
  • Aseptic Technique
  • Discontinuing IV's and Recording Amount Absorbed
  • Urinary Catherization
  • Manual Irrigation of a Urinary Catheter
  • Oxygen Delivery
  • Oropharyngeal/Nasopharyngeal/Tracheotomy Suctioning
  • Active and Passive Exercises
  • Use of Hearing Aids
  • Insertion of Rectal Suppositories
  • Health Assessment of the Geriatric Patient
  • Medication Administration Course for RPN

• Demonstrates critical- thinking and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated effective documentation skills.
• Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
• Excellent command of the English language (written and verbal).
• Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment.
• Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability and performance required.
