To provide support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a home environment and in the community. Must enjoy being and working with people who have developmental disabilities. Share the philosophy of being with, not doing for." Have the desire and capacity to support them in ways that will enhance their personal growth, build community supports and develop relationships.
Essential Skills - Strong oral and written communication skills, working with others, problem solving, empathy, planning and organizing, meal preparation, and ability to do tasks to maintain a household and assist adults with personal needs.
Ability to work in situations of potentially high stress with maturity to absorb tension and handle conflict.
Education: Completion of post secondary training in a related field (1-2 year minimum) Experience working with persons with disabilities an asst. Volunteer experience an asset.
Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector check required.
Hiring Now: Part Time Weekend(Must be able to work weekends and overnight shifts). These are permanent positions in Dartmouth.
Hours of Work: 16 hours per week guaranteed. Opportunity to work additional relief hours depending upon your availability. Shift work, variable hours. Must be able to work shifts every weekend ( may include day or evening) and overnight (night sleeps)
Part Time - As per the Collection Agreement. $22.44 - $24.33 per hour (plus $2.35/hour shift differential for evenings after 6 p.m. and weekends). This position is eligible for paid sick time and vacation pay. They will also be eligible for pension benefits after 2 years of employment.
Bargaining unit employees and external applicants will be concurrently assessed for part time positions.
