Position Description:
Are you looking to make a difference in your community? Our team of Residential Support Workers provide high quality, person-focused services for adults diagnosed with disabilities in our residential setting. We provide educational and engaging programing for our clients, while supporting their needs, interests, and well-being.
Do you have a passion for support work, but have limited experience? Our training programs will give you the skills and experience you need to confidently care for our clients and positively effect their lives!
Key Responsibilities:
· Support our clients as they engage in meaningful activities;
· Assist in the implementation of individualized support plans;
· Facilitate basic life skills and healthy habits;
· Employ a variety of communication strategies to create an inclusive environment;
· Foster client socialization and community engagement;
· Collaborate with our team, families, and others to provide quality care that aligns with each client’s needs;
· Monitor for health and safety issues and respond to unsafe client situations;
· Safely transport clients as necessary to off-site activities or appointments on occasion;
· Participate in maintaining a clean, safe, supportive and accommodating environment;
· Maintain appropriate documentation and records.
Education and Requirements:
- Grade 12, GED, or equivalent experience;
- A minimum of 1 year working with people diagnosed with disabilities will be considered an asset;
- Have or be willing to obtain First Aid/CPR Level C;
- A reliable vehicle, class 5 driver’s license is a requirement to transport clients as needed;
- Ability to obtain vehicle insurance showing $2 million liability coverage (for roles requiring transportation of clients);
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Check;
- A clear Child Intervention Records Check;
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Knowledge and ability to use computers and technology effectively.
