One exciting Temporary Full-Time opportunity as a Research Coordinator I (Competition #303) exists in the Women’s Age Lab at Women’s College Hospital reporting to Dr. Rachel Savage. This role will support the activities of a program of research focused on the health and well-being of older adults living in naturally occurring retirement communities (NORCs) and studies related to loneliness and social isolation.
Summary of Duties, but not limited to:
Writing
Work closely with the Project Manager and Research Lead:
- In collaboration with team members, writes protocols, reports, abstracts, poster presentations and other relevant deliverables
- Assist with writing and submission of manuscripts to scientific journals – may involve creating tables, figures, proof reading, preparation of cover letter, coordinating documents to sign
- Conducting literature searches using PubMED, MEDLINE and other Internet resources, retrieve and organize documents from university libraries, write reports summarizing the literature
Participates in:
- Drafting of graphic materials, preparation of infographics, and creation of report dissemination plans
- Presentation and slide development
- In collaboration with principal investigators carries out various aspects in the of study/project protocols.
- These activities may include:
- Monitoring project timelines and deliverables in collaboration with other team members
- Participating in the preparation of REB proposals and amendments
- Aiding in the recruitment and scheduling of research participants
- Supporting data collection including administration and collection of research questionnaires; facilitate or assist focus groups and interviews; data entry
- Creating and maintenance of statistical databases
- Assisting in grant submissions including drafting, budget preparation, preparation of appendices
- Coding and interpreting qualitative data, such as interview transcripts and other materials
- Completing administrative tasks such as planning and coordinating meetings of program or project teams, prepare meeting agendas and background material; produces and distributes minutes
- Organize/coordinate travel related to research projects

Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in healthcare related field, Master’s degree preferred
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience working in a research environment and/or academic hospital
- Working knowledge of research terminology and methodology
- Demonstrated proficiency in project coordination; ability to carry out literature reviews, suggest methodological and analytical modifications to mixed methods health services research studies
- Experience with qualitative coding software (e.g., NVivo, Dedoose) and an understanding of qualitative research analysis and interpretation required
- Knowledge of principles of public health, epidemiology and aging an asset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other research-related software such as EndNote, REDCap and NVivo.
- Knowledge of applicable legislative, WCH and/or departmental policies and procedures
- Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently
- Ability to meet tight and fluid deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills are required
- Well-developed time management skills
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Understanding of research design and research ethics
