Description
The Rentals Head Service Technician selects, trains and leads the small team of Service Technicians to provide a high level of service as part of the Rentals Team. They are tasked with making ensure that the rental fleet is appropriately maintained and safe for re-issue. They also take responsibility for all the tuning, repair and adjustment of non-rental equipment brought to us by guests. Accurate cash handling is also a part of the role. During busy periods on the Rental Floor, all Service Technicians are expected to assume roles distributing or returning equipment, helping guests or working on the cash. The Rentals Head Service Technician reports to the Rentals Supervisor.
Job Functions
- Lead the Service Tech Team to provide excellent guest service.
- Assist guests with their equipment needs in a knowledgeable, efficient and friendly manner.
- Provide training, supervision and professional development to the Service Technicians.
- Tuning, adjustment and repairs to all kinds and to all manner of ski and snowboard equipment following Sunshine Village procedures.
- Safe and proper handling and maintenance of related tools, equipment and exhaust systems.
- Contribute to departmental goals and objectives and drive sales.
- Keeping a safe, clean and well-organized workspace that is free of clutter.
- Ensuring guest profile accounts are accurate, complete and up to date.
- Accurately complete daily cash outs as required, be accountable for any variances.
- Ensure that the administration of all liability/waiver documentation is done in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure that you and your staff are working within the limitations of their knowledge and experience.
- Ensure that random weekly bench testing is taking place and properly recorded.
- Perform bench tests on equipment that has been involved in accidents as required.
- Monitoring of stock levels including tools and consumables, preparing purchase orders.
- Helping distribute or return equipment during busy times or when the shop is short-staffed.
- Identification and reporting of hazards, diligent enforcement of health & safety standards.
- Contribute as a part of the Rentals leadership group to the operation as a whole.
- Other duties as assigned.
- The ideal Head Technician is a strong skier.
- You are an experienced ski and board tuner/repairer/adjuster in a busy commercial setting.
- You are a teacher and a leader with a high level of emotional maturity to manage a dynamic team of young seasonal workers.
- You are passionate about great customer service.
- You have advanced knowledge of ski tuning and repair techniques, including safe operation of Wintersteiger ski tuning, waxing and bench testing machines. Certification and knowledge on adjustment of the major brands of ski and snowboard bindings (not limited to DIN calculations and forward pressure adjustment).
- You can demonstrate your experience on repairs of all kinds including core damage and repairs requiring edge replacement, base patches and lamination repairs.
- You show a clear understanding of why proper base condition and structure is important and how to achieve it.
- Computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products and Windows is an asset. Experience with Sports Rental or similar equipment rental software.
- This can be a physically demanding position requiring some manual labour and lifting.
- Employees must always be of a sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
- This role must always maintain a high standard of professional conduct, particularly when in uniform and acting as a company representative.
- Working on a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays will be expected.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively in English.
- This position at times works alone, handles cash, and handles sensitive, confidential information.
- This is primarily an indoor role, but outdoor travel occurs, and both preparedness and the ability to move around in a remote, alpine environment is required. Some indoor uniform pieces are provided.
