POSITION: Recreation Therapy Assistant
Full-Time
SHIFTS/HOURS: Must be available for Days, Evenings and Weekends
RATE OF PAY: Start Rate 1295hrs 2590hrs
$27.03 $27.39 $27.68
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Postsecondary diploma, degree or certificate in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology from an Ontario postsecondary institution or other related field from a community college, university or diploma, degree or certificate granted from another jurisdiction or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Affiliation with a Professional Organization (Therapeutic Recreation Ontario or Activity Professionals Ontario or equivalent) an asset.
- You must demonstrate leadership skills with knowledge of the aging process and dementia.
- Commitment to a multi-disciplinary team and a person-centered approach working with residents, staff, families and volunteers is also required.
- You will have previous work and/or volunteer experience in Long Term Care.
- Training in Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), UFirst!, an asset.
- Experience with quality improvement processes an asset.
- You have excellent writing and communication skills along with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- A Police Record/Vulnerable Sector check is required.
