Position Summary
Exciting Opportunity: Project Coordinator – Research Partnerships & Student Engagement

Reporting to the Manager, Research Partnerships and Student Engagement, this highly collaborative role is perfect for a strategic thinker and proactive doer who thrives in a fast-paced, impact-driven environment. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to bring research projects to life—coordinating timelines, communications, and reporting to ensure seamless execution and stakeholder satisfaction.
But that’s not all—this role also leads the development and delivery of a comprehensive student training program, creating inclusive, consistent, and high-quality experiences for our research assistants. Position Responsibilities
Student Engagement
- Support student training from recruitment, hiring, and onboarding, through to exit surveys and capturing student outcomes and success post-hire.
- Enhance the standard training provided to student research assistant (RA) to include;
- presentation skills, resume development, interview skills
- new technical and Applied Research topics
- implement an electronic badging system to improve visibility of acquired skills
- provide mandatory train-the-trainer training to RA supervisors
- Organize the student training modules to include formal training opportunities to participate in:
- Workshops and webinars on delivering presentations, effective communication, time and Project Management
- Advanced topics in Applied Research such as design thinking
- Ensure students are being coached by their supervisors and are growing their skills
- Develop electronic badging modules
- Identify opportunities to showcase Applied Research and support students to attend
Central Alberta Regional Innovation Network (CARIN) Administration
- Metrics collection including uploading to Central Information System
- CARIN student coordination – hiring and guiding, general coordination (i.e. when we hire students to work with industry, etc)
- LinkedIn posts – Working with Post-Secondary Institutions (PSI) MarComms material, create 1 post per month on an institute success story share with Regional Innovation Network operations lead (2 hrs per month) – Goal – To highlight how research and technology readiness level (TRL) advancement are integral to CARIN success
- CARIN meetings (Contribute to ‘Success Snapshot’ update for members, booking, agenda, logistics, minutes and follow up etc.)
- Send relevant events and updates to the CARIN Ops Lead for website updates
- Coordination with Olds’ CARIN Ops Admin and Community Futures CARIN Operations Lead (bi-weekly update meetings 1hr)
- Working with the CARIN Operations Lead – Support event planning and delivery: room booking, invites, AV, food, advertising, attendance lists, media release signage, media communications in collaboration with PSI MarComms departments
Research Partnership Development
- Support the Manager, Research Partnerships and Student Engagement with the coordination of regional events, workshops, and initiatives to promote innovation and knowledge exchange.
- Develop relationships with faculty and project leads to integrate student engagement into research activities.
- In collaboration with Manager, Research Partnerships and Student Engagement engage new clients and expand RDP’s network of collaborators, including both large enterprises and small-to-medium-sized businesses across various sectors.
- Supports the continuous improvement of process and administration of applied research activities in fulfillment of RDP policy and procedures for financial and operational management of applied research activities
- Stays current on trends in applied research and shares knowledge with colleagues
Required Qualifications
- 2-year diploma in Project Management, Business Administration, Communications/Public Relations
- 2-3 years of direct project managment or coordination
- Ability to champion and lead change; a proactive, collaborative, results-oriented style
- Ability to work in a dynamic, ever-changing, fast-paced environment with multiple demands, competing priorities and numerous deadlines
- Ability to use and interpret complex data to accurately advise and inform decision makers
- Strong analytical skills, ability to think outside the box, and apply creative solutions to issues presented
- Able to advance multiple operational initiatives and decision points within established timeframes and budgets
- Strong leadership and teambuilding skills
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to exercise good judgement and discretion, and maintain confidentiality
- Effective organizational, time management, and planning skills
- Excellent oral, written, and technical skills
- Proven ability to determine priorities, be self-directed, and work with minimal supervision
- Knowledge and awareness of the operation of a post-secondary institution is preferred

$62,965 - $73,660 annually
Benefits and Compensation Information
An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
