BCIT’s Experienced Based Placement (EBP) department is looking for a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Program Planning Analyst to be responsible primarily to administrate the TradeUp BC (TUBC) initiative with secondary responsibilities in EBP including student assessments, advanced placement program development and enhancement, and career advising.

Duties & Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary
  • Administrate the TradeUp BC (TUBC) initiative, develop and promote BC post-secondary trade advancement pathways. Associated duties include:
    • Identify the areas of demand and professional development offerings related to trades.
    • Create and maintain the criteria to assess the programs and courses presented by Institutes ensuring to meet the demand and regulations.
    • Present the recommendations of professional development offerings and courses to Ministry.
    • Collaborate with provincial post secondaries to identify and, where necessary develop trade advancement curriculum to bridge the gap between demands and current programs.
    • Facilitate the TUBC website development and contents update with contractors.
    • Identify and attend trade related events to advocate TUBC initiative.
    • Prepare reports on outcomes of the TUBC initiative, opportunities of marketing fields, and potential area needs training etc. to the BC Ministry of Post Secondary and Future Skills (PSFS).
    • Liaise with the BC Ministry of Post Secondary and Future Skills (PSFS) to facilitate expansions to the TUBC initiative.


Secondary (as back-up EBP Coordinator)
  • Reviews applicants for BCIT offerings that provide advanced placement pathways into programs by assessing their non-traditional prior learning and Industry experience.
  • Reviews and analyzes resumes, employment training records and transcripts; Follows-up with references, conducts further interviews to determine credit that can be applied towards an applicant’s advanced standing in programs. Consults and seeks input and direction with Program Areas when student experiences and learnings are unrecognized or undefined.
  • Liaises with Program Heads and Associate Deans to establish the requirements of prior and experience-based learnings for advanced placement into Programs and to establish the criteria for these non-traditional pathways.
  • Communicate with prospective students, including emailing and calling to provide information about the program, and the status of their assessment.
  • Provides advice to current and potential students about career paths relevant to their previous experiences/prior learnings and BCIT’s academic programs.
  • Maintain constant communication and rapport with the Admissions department to make sure processes and policies are in place.
  • Conduct research and participate in professional development to maintain current knowledge in field of Prior Learning and Assessment (PLAR) and advanced placement.
  • Engage in program development and enhancement by contacting the appropriate organizations, building connections, and attending in-person and online consortium meetings.
  • Track students inquires, assessments, and successful applicants.
  • Make appropriate changes to the existing RPL program as necessary, abiding with BCIT’s policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • A Diploma of Technology, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of four years of experience working in a Post-Secondary Education environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and oral skills in English.
  • Self- motivated and proactive, who can work efficiently in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications including MS Office and database management.
  • Trade Worker, Marketing, Canadian Armed Forces, Indigenous and government knowledge and experience are valued assets.
  • Be able to work on campus on a regular basis and have a vehicle to travel to local events.

Salary Range
Salary Range: $68,182 - $81,209 per annum.

Additional Salary Information
Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
