As a Polisher, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining vertical polishing machines to achieve smooth and polished edges on glass products. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards to ensure the production of high-quality glass products.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate vertical polishing machines according to production specifications.
- Operate machines to polish glass edges, ensure smooth and uniform finishes.
- Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain accuracy, quality, and efficiency.
- Identify and reject defective glass pieces; adjust the machine as needed.
- Perform routine cleaning on polishing machines; troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues to minimize downtime.
- Report mechanical problems to supervisor and maintenance personnel.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of machines, tools, and work areas to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
- Support Operators and fellow team members as needed to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management to support overall production goals and operational needs.
- Good communication skills to interact with team members and management.
- Ability to stand throughout entirety of shift.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently and throughout entirety of shift.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks, in a continuous manner, in a fast paced environment including lifting and extending arms through entirety of shift.
- Ability to accurately use and read tape measures in both Imperial and Metric units.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
- Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
- Experience with glass fabrication equipment and crane operations is an asset.
