Job Summary – Production Artist Calgary
Family-owned business since 1945, Cowan Graphics Inc. has grown to become one of the largest digital and screen-printing companies in Canada. We have multiple locations in Western Canada. Our Calgary location provides vehicle wraps/ graphics; murals/ wall graphics, building signage, indoor/outdoor banners, retail/event signage, computer cut graphics, decals and specialty items.
We are looking for a creative individual to join our Calgary team! Must be local to Calgary.
Responsibilities Include:
- Receive customer art files, determine size and arrangement of illustrative material.
- Select style and size of type, arranges layout, and production requirements according to instructions of client.
- Reviews production layout and suggests improvement as needed.
- Prepares proofs of finished layout and presents sample for approval.
- Alters illustrations to enlarge, reduce, or clarify image.
- Occasionally create custom, impactful, high-quality designs for vehicle wraps and signage that support customer’s objectives.
- Prepares notes and instructions for production, which will assemble and prepare final product for printing.
- Accurately assembles all elements of production design and copy, including measurement and control devices.
- Strong skills in work planning, scheduling job priorities.
- Ability to work with tight timelines.
- Ability to work closely with internal and external customers.
- Assist the production team during critical delivery expectation.
To meet the demands of this position, the candidate will require demonstrating the following.

· Excellent organizational skills
· Self-motivated and ability to work independently.
· Solid written and verbal communication skills
· Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
· Experience in the printing industry is an asset, but not mandatory.
Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite - Key strength in Illustrator.
Preference will be given to individuals with production skills; operating an HP Printer or Gerbers, as well as laminating, weeding and pre-masking.
