Position: Principal, ESG Governance and Integration

Compensation Details:
- ESG Strategy & Outreach 19 : Salaries typically range from $109,810 to $146,413 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location:
- Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
- This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs in Toronto or Montreal

Team Overview:
EDC is seeking a Principal who is enthusiastic, self-motivated and resourceful to join the ESG Integration team. The ESG Integration team works closely with lines of business, support functions and the broader ESG teams to execute the ESG strategy at EDC. The team is also responsible for reporting to the Board of Directors on the progress of EDC’s ESG initiatives.
Reporting to the VP, ESG Integration, the incumbent will work as an integral part of the ESG Integration leadership team and will be responsible for coordinating internal governance of EDC’s external ESG commitments and performance. This role will also support the VP in leading planning and strategy development for the team.
What you will be doing:
- Coordinating internal governance committees of monitoring performance of the ESG scorecard and external public commitments;
- Develop and manage the annual planning process for ESG, in collaboration with ESG-Advisory;
- Develop and manage the performance monitoring system for ESG-Integration, including developing and maintaining status and dashboard reporting, facilitating discussions, developing risk management system, facilitating board and executive reporting;
- Coordinate the agenda, scheduling and material preparation for the Executive Sustainability Committee with the ESC Secretariat.
- Stay current on best practices and industry trends related to ESG;
- Collaborate with various stakeholders including internal teams on matters related to implementation of EDC’s ESG strategy;
- Plan and coordinate of engagement with EDC Board of Directors;
- Co-ordinate and prepare materials for senior leadership and executives;
What we are looking for:
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or in a similar discipline, or equivalent experience;
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in ESG, program/project management or related experience;
- Excellent relationship and influencing skills with the ability to build productive relationships across teams and levels of seniority;
- Strong facilitation skills
- Results-oriented, highly motivated;
- Autonomy, initiative and capacity for peer and self-learning;
- Leads others to solve complex problems and effectively manages complex projects with multiple stakeholders;
- Experience working with diverse sets of stakeholders including, business teams, corporate committees, executives and Board members;
- High proficiency in PPT, Excel.
What will make you stand out:
- Master's in an ESG related field such as sustainability, environmental sciences, social sciences, communications, compliance or Business/Finance-related subject
- Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
- Experience working with boards of directors and executive committees
- Experience in corporate sustainability and responsibility issues within the financial services sector
- Knowledge of emerging frameworks and best practice such as, but not limited to, the TCFD, UNGP on Business and Human Rights, Principles on Responsible Investment
- Experience in communications and change management
