Penny's Palapa is a locally owned small business in FOOD_BEVERAGE_SERVICES in Nanaimo, BC V9R 2X3. we are located in the Nanaimo marina on a floating barge. We are fun, collaborative, fast-paced, and our goal is to create a dynamic environment for a team that loves to create fresh dishes, made from scratch and an extrodinary customer experience.
We are open 7 days a week from mid April to the end of September. Being seasonal, we offer frequent opportunities for promotions and wage increases several times a season. We offer a significant tip out on top of a fair wage. Starting wage will be based on experiece and attiude.

We are looking for an experienced Line Cook/Prep Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a professional kitchen setting, be able to work quickly and efficiently, and have a passion for creating delicious meals. Responsibilities include prepping ingredients, cooking meals to order, and ensuring that all dishes are prepared in accordance with health and safety standards. The successful candidate will also be responsible for cleaning and organizing the kitchen area at the end of each shift.
Responsibilities:
- Follow recipes and prepare food according to restaurant standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to safety and sanitation regulations.
- Prepare ingredients for use in cooking.
- Cook food items in a timely manner.
- Monitor food quality and freshness.
- Maintain a friendly and positive attitude ina a fun and safe environment.
- Willing to learn our systems and procedures as well as contribute to new ideas.
Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 3 months
Pay: $18.85-$22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 30 per week
