TO Live’s Patron & Event Services Department is currently accepting applications for the role of a Porter. This is a part-time seasonal position for an experienced and outgoing team player who will deliver exceptional service in multiple food & beverage capacities. The position will be primarily at our Meridian Hall location. The major service component is the operation of all concessions and bars during public events.
This is a unionized position; successful candidates will be required to join IATSE Local B-173.
ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accept product deliveries, accurately stock inventory rooms, and ensure proper stock rotation for concessions and kitchen.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all Food and Beverage storage areas to uphold hygiene standards.
- Conduct inventory cycle counts, spot checks, and month-end procedures to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Prepare requisitions for necessary products and supplies.
- Prepare requests for required products and supplies, submitting them to the manager on duty post-show.
- Assist in setting up and distributing all food and beverage items for concession and bar service during shows and events.
- Collaborate with concession staff and bartenders to ensure timely availability of products at service points.
- Maintain accurate records of product distribution during shows and events.
- Perform inventory controls to uphold high quality standards for audits.
- Execute duties according to event function orders and specific event instructions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor product rotation and check expiry dates to maintain freshness and quality.
- Organize and oversee deliveries, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure proper storage practices and cleanliness standards in all storage areas.
- Maintain coffee equipment and ensure are in good working order.
- Report equipment malfunctions or issues promptly to supervisors.
- Ensure completion of temperature logs in food and beverage areas.
- Communicate product shortages and issues to managers.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, legible, and up to date.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Smart Serve Certified and legally eligible to serve alcohol in Ontario.
- Proficient in English (verbal and written).
- Ability to understand and follow instructions clearly, including setup diagrams.
- Preferably previous experience in food and beverage or warehouse environments.
- Basic math skills and ability to handle inventory.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Capable of standing for extended periods and maintaining fast-paced mobility.
- Able to lift and carry items weighing up to 45 pounds or more.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- High initiative, requiring minimal supervision.
- Customer service-oriented with a positive and professional demeanor.
- Well-groomed, cooperative, mannerly, and outwardly friendly.
- Flexible schedule including 6 – 8 business hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions clearly, including setup diagrams.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Flexibility in hours and schedules and includes work on nights and weekends as required.
- Lack of natural light in workplace.
- Travel between TO Live venues as required.
