Heritage College is one of Western Canada’s fastest growing private career colleges. We are looking to hire an excellent Pharmacy lab instructor to join our faculty. Reporting to the Campus Director and Education Manager, the instructor is responsible for delivering components of the courses to students.
Responsibilities
- Deliver curriculum using pre-authorized and/or Heritage College provided materials
- Take part in our program Teams and contribute to maintaining the curriculum for the betterment of the program
- Organize and be responsible for instruction materials
- Distribute and explain course outlines at the beginning of every class to every student
- Define daily objectives and begin with an overview of the daily lesson plan
- Check inventory and order lab supplies as needed
- Administer all assessments according to guidelines and procedures
- Grade and check daily work, projects, and quizzes in a timely fashion according to guidelines
- Follow procedures for administering, recording grades, and filing assessments
- Mark in a timely fashion and according to the guidelines provided
- Maintain accurate record of attendance
- Set a professional example to students
- Ensure that classrooms and labs are left in a clean and orderly fashion at end of class
- Allow every student the chance to evaluate the course and teaching methods using the student evaluation form at the end of every course
- Cover all material for the week, in a condensed form if necessary, to provide for holidays or professional days
- Participate in grad functions
- Actively contribute and participate in program planning, curriculum development & review, and project work.
- Participating in College-wide initiatives and/or committees.
- Attend faculty meetings and in-service training sessions
Qualifications and Education
To be successful in the instructor position, individuals must be committed to developing, maintaining, and demonstrating the following:
- A certificate/diploma/degree related to medical pharmacy or pharmacy sciences, supplemented by 36 months of occupational experience in the field of pharmacies or pharmacology.
- Previous teaching experience is mandatory
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and/or database systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent knowledge of Pharmacy Practices and Kroll Pharmacy Management System.
- Practicing as a pharmacy Technician is an asset.
- Experience teaching students in classroom, lab, and/or practicum settings.
- Experience creating a stimulating, effective, and learner-centered environment.
- Experience marking, grading, and evaluating student work.
- Experience providing ongoing feedback, guidance, and assistance to students.
- Current membership/license with relevant regulatory body required.
- Recent clinical / practical experience
- Passion for teaching, ability to inspire students, and commitment to student learning and success
- Ability to work effectively in a variety of team environments
- Proven commitment to continuous learning and reflective practice
Classes will be offered on weekdays Morning that will be Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on campus and more schedules can be provided. Applicant should be flexible with their schedules.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
