Reporting to the Clinical Director – Transitional Care Program, the Personal Support Worker position is a critical role that provides our residents with direct personal and nursing care so their individual daily needs are met in accordance with their plan of care.
As part of our team, your role as a Personal Support Worker contributes to our resident experiences in the following ways:
- Provides supervision and/or assistance in the activities of the resident’s daily living requirements including feeding, transferring, toileting, hygiene, grooming, bathing and dressing based on their individual plan of care.
- Provides oral hygiene and dental care to residents.
- Promotes and ensure the provision of resident focused care and provides cognitive, emotional, spiritual, cultural, physical and social support to each resident.
- Provides care and services to the residents related to their sensory aids, such as hearing aides, glasses, etc.
- Preparing and administering prescribed, routine, medications as directed by the Physician.
- Works in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You Need:
· Successful completion of a Personal Support Worker certificate from an approved College or private institution.
· Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when assisting residents, family members and visitors.
· Must posses excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Ability to be sensitive and empathetic to the individual needs of the residents.
· One (1) year experience in a long term care home setting is an asset.
· All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector check.
· Have a passion to promote person-centered care and work with the senior population.
