POSITION SUMMARY
The People & Culture Generalist plays a key role in supporting people & culture functions across the organization. This position ensures compliance with best practices, provides guidance to leadership and staff, and contributes to a positive workplace culture. Acting as a trusted advisor, the Generalist supports employee relations, recruitment, policy development, and people & culture initiatives that align with WellFort’s mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Support leadership as their primary people & culture partner, providing guidance and strategic support tailored to their teams' needs.
- Act as first point of contact for general employee and leadership inquiries, collaborating with subject matter experts as required, to support such inquiries in a timely manner
- Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and foster a positive workplace culture.
- Conduct structured 90-day check-ins with managers to assess new hire progress, address challenges, and enhance onboarding success.
- Handle termination-related matters and prepare termination and severance letters
- Provide guidance on performance management, progressive discipline, and policy interpretation.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment, including job postings, screening, interviews, and onboarding.
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure a seamless experience.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and documentation.
- Support workplace accommodation requests and leave management processes.
- Prepare reports and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
- Administer group benefits, pension plans, and employee programs.
- Promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in all people & culture policies and programs.
- Participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) and compliance initiatives.
- Contribute to people & culture projects including ATS implementation, initiatives, and organizational policy development.
· Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in people & culture, talent management, and employment law.
- Participate in development and expansion of human resources objectives and systems
- Supporting employee issues including workplace complaints, conflict, and terminations,
including guiding fact-finding investigations and restorative meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- CHRP designation (in progress or completed) is an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of HR experience, preferably in non-profit, healthcare, or social services.
- Expertise in employee relations, workplace investigations, and conflict resolution.
- Strong knowledge of ESA, Human Rights Code, OHSA, and AODA.
- Experience with disability management, benefits administration, and HRIS (ADP Workforce Now an asset).
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace.
- Additional language skills relevant to the community are an asset.

Salary Range: $64,848 - $75,638 (pro-rated annually) (consideration of experience)
