- Executes efficient and accurate processing of employee payroll, ensuring accuracy of data and compliance with all relevant legislative regulations, collective agreements, and policies, while maintaining data integrity across all platforms (including the HRIS, HOOPP, and CRA).
- Investigates and analyzes payroll discrepancies which result in the recovery or disbursement of additional earnings, including liaising with leaders, Employee Scheduling, or employees as required
- Carries out management of email inboxes and secure mail to provide responses and guidance to employees, employee scheduling, and leaders on payroll provisions for all levels of staff, prioritizing positive client experience.
- Prepares benefit statements and handles the collection of payments and arrears related to protected leaves of absence.
- Calculates and audits top-up payments of protected leaves of absence in accordance with the respective collective agreement relevant legislative regulations; provides guidance and resolution to employee’s inquiries.
- Promote a productive and efficient team environment where Human Resources staff are recognized as a highly regarded and trusted sources.
- Process union leave requests in collaboration with Labour Relations
- Provide back-up efficient and effective support to the Payroll Officer, as required
- Acts as a back-up resource for the Helpdesk Administrator.
- Other duties as assigned
- Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or Human Resource
- 3 years experience in payroll within a hospital setting OR In lieu of formal education, 5 years in payroll in a public sector
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (income tax, CPP, EI, employment standards, etc)
- Experience working with a Human Resources Information system (HRIS)
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation
