Position Summary
Under the director of the Security Shift Supervisor(s), Security Shift Manager(s), the Security Officer is responsible for the safety and protection of guests, employees and company property in the Casino. The Security Officer responds to emergency situations as necessary and takes steps to rectify problems while minimizing Casino liability. This position assists with fills, credits, drops and key control. As a Security Officer, he/she is responsible for controlling access to the Casino and greeting guests while providing exceptional customer service. Above all else, must embrace and be aligned with Casino Nova Scotia’s culture and philosophy of providing outstanding entertainment experiences.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensures the safety and protection of casino guests, employees and company property
- Anticipates potential problems and seeks ways to prevent disruption
- Responds to emergency situations as requested; takes steps to rectify problems while minimizing casino liability
- Assists in fills, credits, drops and key control
- Greets guests and controls access to casino
- May perform Security Dispatch duties
- Complies with all general orders, policies, procedures, regulations and controls as well as policies outlined in the employee handbook
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed

Education and Qualifications
- Embraces the Casino Nova Scotia culture and philosophy and has a playful, infectious and "all about the guest" attitude!
- Minimum high school diploma (or equivalent) is required
- Ability to be licensed by the Nova Scotia Alcohol and Gaming Division as a Security Officer
- Ability to successfully complete the Security Officer Training Course is required
- Satisfactory attendance is required
- Certification in First Aid and CPR an asset (if not certified, must be willing to complete First Aid and CPR training)
- Certification in Crisis Intervention an asset (if not certified, must be willing to complete Crisis Intervention training)
- Must have a professional attitude, strong interpersonal skills and be a proven team player
- Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills
- Ability to stand for long periods of time is required Candidates will be assessed on math and reading skills
