ECE PlayLab is a brand new Reggio Emilia Inspired early learning program located in the heart of Kingsland, Calgary. Rooted in the belief that the Environment is a child’s third teacher, our space is intentionally designed to inspire curiosity, wonder, and meaningful connections. . Our program is grounded in early childhood research and led by an experienced team with advanced qualifications in education leadership, curriculum design, and child development. We are currently seeking Part-time/On-call/Casual Level 3 Early Childhood Educators, aka a Play Advocate who share our belief in learning through play and are excited to work in a warm, collaborative, and cozy environment.

Your responsibilities and primary duties
- Support the Lead Educators in daily caregiving routines such as feeding, diapering, and naptime with a responsive and respectful approach
- Float between classrooms as needed, supporting various age groups and team members throughout the day
- Prepare and set up learning materials, provocations, and open-ended activities that reflect children's interests and developmental needs
- Support daily cleaning tasks to ensure a safe and hygienic environment in alignment with Alberta Child Care Licensing and Accreditation Standards
- Assist with observing and documenting children's learning using photos, quotes, and artifacts (work samples) to make their thinking and learning visible
- Collaborate with educators to plan play-based learning experiences inspired by children's interests
- Foster social-emotional development and respectful relationships among children through role modeling and gentle guidance
- Contribute to maintaining an intentional and visually engaging classroom environment
- Ensure materials and spaces are safe, accessible, and inviting for independent discovery
- Build connections with families through warm, professional communication and shared observations
Your skills
- Current Alberta At least Level 3 Early Childhood Educator Certificate
- An understanding of Reggio Emilia-inspired practices is an asset — but not required. (What matters most is your openness to learn and grow)
- Familiarity with Generative AI and Google Workspace Apps and Proficient in technology
- Knowledge of Early Learning and Child Care Regulations (E.g. ratio requirements)
- Valid Standard First Aid Certificate and Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search is a MUST
- Ability to create learning that caters to learning styles.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with young children.
- Strong organizational skills to manage classroom efficiently.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative.
Prefer to have
- A second language - we celebrate multilingualism and diverse cultural perspectives!
- A special interest or skillset such as visual arts, music and movement, yoga, storytelling, or design that sparks joy and creativity in your practice.
- Experience working with newcomers and in diverse, international settings

Please note: We prioritize candidates who are open to participating in our 5-day unpaid training session — The PlayLab Approach. This immersive experience is designed to align values, spark inspiration, and prepare you for success at our program (and in any other programs). A Certificate of Participation will be provided.

Pay: $15.05-$17.03 per hour
