Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Pet Groomer (Not Bather) to join our team starting 1 day a week (Tuesdays or Fridays). The ideal candidate will have a love for animals and a strong background in pet care, grooming, and customer service. As a Pet Groomer, you will be responsible for providing high-quality grooming services to pets while ensuring their comfort and safety. Your expertise in animal handling and care will contribute to creating a positive experience for both pets and their owners.
Responsibilities
- Perform grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, and nail clipping for various breeds of dogs and other pets.
- Assess the condition of pets’ coats and skin to recommend appropriate grooming techniques and products.
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming area, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized after each use.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners about their pets’ needs and grooming options.
- Handle animals safely and compassionately, using proper restraint techniques when necessary.
- Assist with any additional pet care tasks as needed, including feeding, walking, or monitoring pets during their stay.
- Collaborate with veterinary staff if any health concerns arise during grooming sessions.
Requirements
- Proven experience in pet grooming is preferred; however, candidates with strong backgrounds in animal handling or veterinary assistance may also be considered.
- Knowledge of dog training techniques is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant is a plus.
- Familiarity with equine care can be an advantage for those working with larger animals.
- Strong skills in animal restraint and handling to ensure the safety of both pets and staff during grooming sessions.
- Excellent customer service skills to build rapport with pet owners and address their concerns effectively.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as needed when handling larger breeds or multiple pets at once.
