Wanted part-time Chess Instructor for lunch-hours (11:30-12:30), and after-school (3:30-4:30). Starting $60 per hour.
The Chess'n Math Association, a non-profit organization founded in 1985, is Canada's National Scholastic Chess Organization. The association is dedicated to bringing the game of chess to children and provides lessons for students between 5 and 14 in schools, libraries, community centers, etc.
The chess instructor will be asked to teach the game of chess to children 5 to 14 years old, most of the time as part of extra-curricular activities (lunch time and after classes). The person will also promote tournaments and other events organized by the Chess’n Math Association. Responsibilities include:
- Prepare activities for class and bring the required materials.
- Plan and teach lessons in schools mostly at the primary levels.
- Maintain a precise attendance file and notify responsible personnel immediately if there are unmotivated absences.
We are looking for people with the following skills and experiences:
- Talent for teaching chess, good time management and organisational skills.
- Able to work well with children. Previous work experience with children is preferred.
- Patience and sensitivity to children’s needs.
- Capacity to adequately manage discipline amongst a group of children.
- Be ready to travel to schools.
Weekdays, Toronto - GTA, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Oakville, Brampton, Richmond Hill, Aurora, Markham, Brampton, etc.
Preferred: valid driver's licence & access to a vehicle.
