Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of various areas of law and demonstrate exceptional organizational and communication skills. This role involves supporting attorneys in case preparation, conducting legal research, and managing documentation efficiently. The Paralegal will play a crucial role in ensuring that our legal processes run smoothly and effectively.
Support areas:
- Provincial Offences;
- Small Claims Court;
- Landlord and Tenant Board ;
- Licensing Tribunal and Repair and ;
- Storage Liens Act.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with case preparation, including drafting legal documents and correspondence.
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
- Manage case files, ensuring all documents are organized and up-to-date.
- Perform document review and assist in the preparation of trial materials.
- Support various areas of law, including estate planning, family law, immigration law, environmental law, personal injury law, securities law, landlord-tenant law, workers' compensation law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, and UCC law.
- Coordinate project management tasks to ensure timely completion of legal projects.
- Conduct client interviews to gather necessary information for cases.
- Maintain filing systems and document management systems for efficient access to information.
- Provide executive administrative support as needed within the office environment.
- Exhibit strong writing skills for drafting pleadings, contracts, and other legal documents.
- Ensure adherence to deadlines while maintaining high-quality work standards.
Skills
- Proven paralegal experience with a solid understanding of legal terminology and procedures.
- Proficiency in legal case management software such as iManage and PCLaw.
- Strong research skills with the ability to analyze complex information effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for managing multiple cases simultaneously.
- Familiarity with litigation processes and document management systems.
- Competence in proofreading and transcription tasks to ensure accuracy in all documentation.
- Effective phone etiquette for communicating with clients and other stakeholders professionally.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while demonstrating initiative.
