Bracewell Marine is one of the leading marine service shipyards in British Columbia. We proudly repair, repower, and build marine vessels such as fishboats, tugboats, other commercial vessels, and private yachts up to 130 feet and 220 tonnes. Operating in the Shelter Island Marina in Richmond, BC, we are part of the extensive BC marine industry supporting the 4th largest port in North America and the logging, fishing, tourism, and pleasure craft markets.
We are looking for experienced Painters/Blasters with a strong work ethic and positive attitude to join our diverse team of painters/blasters, mechanics, machinists, welders, fabricators, and millworkers. Marine-specific experience is preferred but not required; experienced Painters/Blasters with an interest in the marine industry through on-the-job training are more than welcome! Ideal candidates are also interested in learning other skilled trades and exploring opportunities for career advancement in the marine services industry.
Responsibilities
· All aspects of preparing, blasting, painting, and finishing marine vessels and industrial fabrication projects
· Operate blasting and spray equipment, and perform brush/roll/masking tasks as required
· Operate rust removal (hand and pneumatic) tools
· Install insulation and outfit marine vessels
· Everyone on the Bracewell team is responsible for:
Following safety procedures and helping continuously improve safety;
Participating in a culture of continuous improvement to increase efficiency, reduce customer downtime, and improve our work environment;
Supporting other team members and trades
Skills and Experience
· Required: Industrial painting and/or blasting experience and/or education
· Required: Ability to work at heights, outdoors, and in confined spaces
· Asset: Forklift, crane, confined space, and/or fall protection certification (training available)
· Required: Team-player with a positive attitude and the ability to execute quality work safely and efficiently
· Asset: Driver’s license
· Asset: Knowledge of marine vessels/systems and associated trades
Other Details
· Full-time, permanent, available immediately, Monday - Friday, 8-hour daytime shifts
· $30-$40 per hour depending on experience and education, with opportunities for training and advancement in marine industry trades
