Looking for an experienced Orthodontic hygienist that is looking to supplement their current working hours.
Working hours:
1 Thursday per month - 9am-6pm
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Assist the orthodontist during bonding, debonding, adjustments, and other orthodontic procedures.
- Remove orthodontic appliances, cement, and bands under the direction of the orthodontist.
- Take intraoral and extraoral radiographs (e.g., panoramic, cephalometric, bitewing) as prescribed.
- Perform dental hygiene assessments and documentation.
- Monitor oral health during orthodontic treatment and communicate findings to the orthodontist.
- Take impressions, digital scans , and assist with appliance delivery.
Patient Care & Education:
- Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques specific to orthodontic appliances.
- Provide guidance on care of orthodontic appliances and dietary recommendations.
- Answer questions and provide reassurance to patients throughout treatment.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using dental software.
Administrative & Compliance:
- Follow CDHO and RCDSO regulations, including proper documentation and infection control protocols.
- Maintain sterilization of instruments and cleanliness of clinical areas.
- Participate in continuing education and team training.
- Assist with scheduling, patient follow-up, and supply inventory as needed.
Qualifications:
- Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO)
- Completion of an approved Dental Hygiene Program (recognized in Ontario)
- HARP certification for radiography
- Experience in orthodontics (minimum 1 year preferred)
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Knowledge of Tracker software is an asset

The Orthodontic Dental Hygienist plays a critical role in supporting the orthodontist in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centered orthodontic care. The hygienist assists with diagnostic procedures, patient education, appliance care, and ensures compliance with infection control and regulatory standards.
