Operational Training Specialist FIR Service Delivery English / Anglais English is required / L'anglais est requis On site / Sur place 2025-09-10 ATT-5 $88,493 - $108,739 Under the direction of the Manager, ATS Learning Course Delivery, the Operational Training Specialist (OTS) is accountable for planning, implementing and/or supporting all simulation components of the Flight Information Regions’ (FIR) training programs. The work involves the support of Voice Recognition simulation delivery as well as simulation delivery via pseudo pilot positions. The OTS also provides national leadership as a working simulation specialist on varied projects related to new and/or changes to the simulation systems and tools.

• In support of the training requirements of the FIR, develops, maintains, executes, and enhances simulation exercises, databases and documentation, ensuring standardization and conformance to policies, standards and criteria.
• Supports the delivery of simulation training activities.
• Leads FIR or national multi-disciplinary project implementation teams.
• Works with the Manager, ATS Learning Course Delivery and other stakeholders to identify the effectiveness of simulation delivery and opportunities for improvements.
• Determines simulation impacts in such areas as procedures, systems, technology, and other quality control systems.
• Identifies and implements changes to region-specific courseware and simulation as a result of changes to operational directives, airspace structure, new or updated technology, and/or changes to Operational Training objectives.
• Co-ordinates, prepares, distributes, and supports all data files required by simulators in use at the local training unit.
• Troubleshoots simulation tools issues and follows up with higher level support as necessary.
• Trains stakeholders on the operation of simulation tools and equipment.

• Successful completion of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

• Operating knowledge of all equipment gained through successful completion of formal training courses and experience.

• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of the Air Traffic Services system including procedures and techniques.
• Knowledge of operating systems and data file management practices for the following: Windows, Linux and Unix, as well as networking protocols.
• Knowledge of operating characteristics of all operational systems and input/output devices.
• Current knowledge of air traffic control, flight information centre, and flight service station policies, procedures, publications, airmanship and aircraft performance.
• Knowledge of the NAV CANADA organization, roles and responsibilities including a thorough knowledge of ATC Training.

• This position is onsite and not eligible for a flexible work arrangement.

• Training (ATT-0): $48,164.
• Qualified (ATT-5): $88,493 - $108,739.
• The Trainee level of pay (ATT-0) for new hires will apply for the first 90 calendar days for OTS trainees, after which time the employee shall be paid the full position rate (ATT-5).
