Position Summary:
The Night Duty Manager is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s operations during the overnight hours. Acting as the Manager on Duty, this role ensures the safety and satisfaction of all guests, provides support to overnight staff, and completes administrative duties including the nightly audit process. The ideal candidate is proactive, guest-focused,
and confident in handling any issues that may arise outside of regular daytime operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact and leadership presence during overnight hours.
- Supervise and support overnight staff across all departments (Front Desk, Housekeeping, Security, etc.).
- Ensure the safety and security of all guests and team members, responding to incidents or emergencies as needed.
- Handle guest concerns, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring high levels of service.
- Perform the nightly financial audit and prepare reports for senior management.
- Monitor arrivals, departures, and room availability; assist with late-night check-ins or early check-outs.
- Communicate important overnight occurrences to the appropriate departments during shift handover.
- Ensure public areas and facilities are clean, safe, and in working order overnight.
- Enforce hotel policies and procedures, maintaining a professional and welcoming environment.
- Assist with any operational needs that arise during the night shift.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in hotel operations, preferably in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with property management systems (PMS), such as Opera, is an asset.
- Ability to stay calm and make decisions under pressure.
- Excellent customer service skills with a guest-first attitude.
- Ability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Basic understanding of financial processes, including auditing or daily reconciliation.
Working Conditions:
- Overnight shifts, typically between 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (may vary).
- Standing for extended periods and responding to physical demands of the job.
- Working independently with minimal supervision, often as the sole manager on site.
