Overview
Summer positions (8 week) for nature trail and general park maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the maintenance, repair, construction and development of park features, including nature trails, bridges, boardwalks, gardens, lawns, challenge course elements, animal enclosures, interpretive facilities, etc.
- Participate in training for the safe operation and maintenance of required tools
- Operate and maintain various lawn mowers, trimmers, and other outdoor power tools
- Identify and remove invasive plant species.
- Participate in firewood splitting and stacking, and ice storm clean up of tree debris
- Assist with conducting public engagement and education activities such as guided nature trail walks, etc.
- Assist with operations such as animal care, day camp, outreach programs and field work as required
Requirements
- Able to follow instructions, stay focused, and complete tasks
- Ability to work in a variety of conditions (cold, heat, sun, biting insects, etc.)
- Valid class G or G2 driver’s license is an asset
- Experience with a variety of tools and equipment is an asset
- Able to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
- Internal motivation and the ability to work without supervision
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 8 weeks
Pay: $17.20 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
