PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The MNPHA HSI Coordinator role and Ask Auntie Case Manager role is a joint position between the Brandon Friendship Centre and Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation that provides information to those seeking help in rent supplement and will also support tenants with information on tenant landlord rights as well as identifies and supports clients facing complex and/or multiple barriers putting them at risk of experiencing homelessness.

This position is for a seven month term, ending March 31, 2026.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Housing Support Worker provides client-centered support to individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. This role involves working with clients to secure and maintain stable housing, build independent living skills, and connect with relevant community services. The position requires compassion, problem-solving abilities, and a strong understanding of housing systems and social supports.

Case Manager duties include:

Identifying clients need and assisting in creating, implementing, documenting,

and adjusting client centered action and service plans.

Educating clients on and assisting them to navigating community resources.

Providing supportive counselling, crisis intervention, and mentoring.

Empowering client to foster agency and self-sufficiency in categories such as life

skills, goal setting, and decision making.

Advocating for client’s best interests with other organizations.

Documenting and recording for statistical data collection.

Assisting clients in scheduling and attending appointments.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Post-secondary education in Sociology, Social Work, Indigenous Issues and/or Activism

or a related field; and

Experience working in social services or related field

Experience with writing funding applications

Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Preference will be given to those with lived experiences of Indigeneity and/or precarious

housing.

Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry must be attained.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide direct case management and support to clients to achieve and sustain safe,

secure, and affordable housing.

Assist clients with tenancy applications, housing searches, and navigating housing

options including public, community, and private rentals.

Advocate on behalf of clients with landlords, housing providers, and government

agencies.

Conduct housing and risk assessments and develop individualized support plans in

collaboration with clients.

Support clients to develop life skills such as budgeting, cleaning, and household

maintenance.

Connect clients with health, legal, employment, and community services.

Maintain accurate and timely case notes and documentation in accordance with

organizational policies and privacy standards.

Monitor and review support plans and housing outcomes regularly.

Respond to housing crises, including risk of eviction or homelessness, and implement

intervention strategies.

Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training and professional

development.

Other Duties as assigned.

REMUNERATION:

This position is a term position and will be paid at $23/hour for 37.5 hours of work per week position.
