Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Millwright at our Toronto manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for fixing, replacing, repairing machinery, equipment, mechanical devices, and leaks. You will be fabricating any mechanical devices or items requiring shop skills or tools as requested. This position will require our ideal candidate to work on a rotating shift, with shift adjustments every 2 weeks as our plant operates on a 24 hour cycle.
Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As a Millwright you will be expected to:
• Use and interpret complicated drawings and specifications to create various replacement parts for plant machinery using available mill working equipment.
• Utilizes all available equipment in the shop to manufacture the necessary parts to make sure that plant equipment is maintained and operational at an optimum efficiency.
• Pre-check, install, relocate, and make major mechanical repairs on machinery and/or equipment.
• Ability to weld cut steel, braze, solder and minimum electrical and plumbing skills.
• Ability to recognize mechanical problems before a breakdown through an established preventative maintenance program and report conditions encountered that could affect the operation of the equipment at its optimum efficiency.
• Ability to fabricate parts and equipment and install the equipment and make it operational.
• Weld and use a cutting torch. conditions encountered that may affect the operation of the equipment.
• May assist in shop inventory counting.
• Housekeeping.
• Other duties as assigned by the department manager.
Our ideal candidates skills and abilities include:
• Must be able to read and interpret a tape measure and other specialized measuring devices.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to operate a genie boom, and scissor lift.
• Must possess a variety of personally owned industrial hand tools.
• Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
