Job Description
- Perform routine laboratory procedures including sample preparation for analysis, analyzing and reviewing data
- Schedule work, and train employees
- Receive, prepare, test, release materials used for QC testing
- Develop various testing processes for all raw materials and equipment, and monitor all finished products
- Maintain accurate records and perform tests on all activities conducted in the laboratory
- Develop and document various microbiology laboratory processes and prepare final reports
- Train and document the training of all technical staff on test methods, formal SOPs, regulations, ISO requirements, and laboratory policies/procedures applicable to area of responsibility.
- 8-hour shift is expected (i.e. night shift and weekends as needed)
- Prepares and provides requisite materials including media, reagents, cultures and solutions; pours large volumes of plates and culture maintenance
Qualifications
- Degree in microbiology or College Diploma in Biology or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2 or more years of microbiology testing experience in commercial laboratory (preferably cannabis)
- Leadership experience in testing laboratory (or related field)
- Proficient in methods and practices of microbiological analysis
- Ability to work well both independently and as a team
- Strong problem solving and multitasking skills
- Regular lifting and moving of heavy objects (media bottles, flasks, buckets and glassware racks)
