Mental Health Clinician

The Opportunity
We have a full-time, one-year term position available for a Mental Health Clinician in CMHA’s Huddle Broadway Program. Huddle provides youth (ages 12-29) with access to mental and physical health services, addiction support, financial and employment assistance, Indigenous cultural programming, mental health counseling, community connections, and educational programs to help them reach their goals and potential.
The Position
The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for providing individual, group, and family clinical interventions and educational sessions for youth and caring adults at Huddle Broadway. As many of the youth we serve are Indigenous, a comprehensive knowledge of Indigenous history, culture, traditions, and practices is essential. Observing best practices in privacy, trauma informed approaches, person-centred care and value alignment with CMHA Manitoba and Winnipeg. A full job description is available on request.
The hourly scale for this position falls within Band 5, $27.20 and $33.09, of the Collective Agreement, for 35 hours of work per week. Hours may be flexed over evenings and weekends when necessary.
The Qualifications
Required
- A completed 3-year post-secondary degree in a human service-related discipline such as social work, psychology, or nursing. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Eligibility for registration with the corresponding professional association.
- Two years’ experience in a counselling, case management, or other clinical role.
- Experience working with Indigenous, Metis and Inuit populations, their traditional healing and wellness beliefs and practices.
- Experience working with diverse communities and from an inclusion/anti-oppression framework including specific understanding of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and community services, services for youth and families of colour, and settlement services.
- Knowledge of the Child Welfare System in Manitoba.
- Knowledge of mental health, mental illness, substance use, Harm Reduction principles.
- Knowledge of local mental health and addictions systems and community services.
- Satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
- Satisfactory child and adult abuse registry checks.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Acceptable work record.
Preferred
- Experience supporting youth (up to the age of 29).
- Experience using the psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) model.
- Experience working collaboratively within inter-agency relationships.
- Experience using the one-at-a-time counselling model.
- Training in trauma-informed and culturally safe approaches, strengths-based perspective, and general customer service.
- Comfortable with technology, including database software (e.g. MS Office, Caseworks, Greenspace)
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle registered in Manitoba.
