We are seeking a dynamic Laboratory Assistant – Research Assistant to assist in performing a variety of laboratory related duties as linked to clinical research such as routine bench work (obtaining, processing, testing and reporting the results of a variety of specimens including blood, body fluids, tissues, and other environmental samples), receiving and organizing laboratory materials, troubleshooting and assisting other clinical research functions and duties as delegated. This individual is expected to assist the research coordinators in conducting clinical trials. This individual is responsible for assisting in the processing, storing and handling of clinical specimens and product, and collecting, recording and filing of clinical data.

Responsibilities:
Laboratory Operations:
- Collect and process specimens (blood, urine, etc.) according to study specific protocol and laboratory manuals and procedures
- Process other standard in-house laboratory tests (urine samples, pregnancy tests, A1C, etc.)
- Monitors and manages laboratory supplies and inventory, equipment and calibration, including daily temperature tracking and reporting
- Contributes to the ongoing improved operations of the laboratory by keeping current with technological developments to enhance efficiency and reliability
- Follows appropriate chemical and universal blood and bodily fluid precaution hygiene; maintains sanitary and safe workspace
- Achieve and maintain IATA certification
- Participates in development and maintenance of quality control and assurance program
Research Administration
- Assist clinical research coordinators in performing requirements of research protocols
- Participate in screening and enrollment processes
- Involvement of subject follow up
Qualifications, Experience & Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year in laboratory/medical environment
- Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proficiency in computer programs, specifically EMRs and Microsoft Office
- Flexibility and an ability to react quickly in a fluid and fast-paced environment, as well as a demonstrated ability to prioritize workflow
- Strong communicator
