JOB SUMMARY
Assembles final sub-assemblies for the completion of Company and other products to quality standards.
WORK PERFORMED
- Assembles sub-assemblies for final completion of Company and other products to quality standards
- Performs work in accordance with established work practices and instructions taken from work orders and notes on blueprints and drawings.
- Uses various tools and techniques in the normal course of work duties including lifting slings, lifting jigs and hand tools. May be required to use measuring tools such as micrometers, vernier and dial indicators.
- Required to perform heavy physical work while avoiding potential safety hazards.
- Maintains the workplace in a neat and safe condition,
- Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION and experience
Mechanical assembly with 3-5 years experience in a work or production shop environment
Knowledge and abilities
Must have a good mechanical knowledge as it relates to Company products and a basic ability in reading and interpreting drawings and blueprints
Must have a high degree of manual dexterity to be able to perform fine operations on large heavy sub-assemblies.
Must be able to perform medium to heavy work, lifting and positioning materials, parts and tools weighing up to 25 kg.
Must be knowledgeable of and comply with safety precautions and generally work in such a manner as to ensure own safety and health and that of others who may be affected by the incumbent’s work.

· Makes routine decisions in the normal course of assembly duties.
· Makes recommendations on the improvement of work methods.
Consequence of errors
· Incorrect use of tools or incorrect assembly could result in loss of time and wasted material.
Communications
· Must maintain good working relationship with other staff and co-workers.
Working conditions and other distinguishing aspects
· Normal production shop conditions.
· May be required to work with hazardous materials in the performance of duties.
· Required to perform heavy physical work while avoiding potential safety hazards.
