Job Overview: As a Mechanical and Electrical Assistant Superintendent, you are responsible for supervising and coordinating all M&E Field related scopes of work on a Project. Performs all functions and responsibilities in consonance with the company’s values and beliefs.
Duties:
- Reviewing and understanding M&E contracts
- Developing Water main and Sanitary ERP
- Assisting M&E Design with Engineers and consultant
- Project Start up Mechanical and Electrical requirements
- Scheduling-Work with Area Superintendents to provide M&E 6 week look ahead to coincide with their activities
- Reviewing and providing input for overall M&E schedules
- Financial Management, understanding M&E budgets, Billing and Invoicing
- Attending and conducting regular meetings
- Supervising and coordinating M&E activities with Area Superintendents
- Working with M&E contractors on submittal reviews, engineering conflicts and field conflicts
- Supervising and overseeing M&E contractor’s onsite in relation to their Scopes of work
- Reviewing and providing input/feedback for M&E Contractors submittals, ITPs, QA/QC programs and execution plans
- Coordinating M&E trades with other scopes of work
- Scheduling and conducting regular inspections of M&E work scopes
- Reporting daily Superintendent reports, safety inspections, PSA and QA/QC audits
- Commissioning, supervising and coordinating all M&E commissioning activities with M&E Coordinators, M&E contractors and commissioning agent
- Being a Leadership-Coach and developing M&E coordinators, Assistant Superintendents and Superintendents in relation to the M&E field to help develop skills and knowledge
- Identifying and tracking deficiencies to resolve within contractual timelines
- Delegating and managing the work of others either through direct or indirect people management
Requirements:
- A University degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering or a construction related field is required
- 2-5 years of experience working on M&E Field related scopes of work on a construction project
- Experience working as a supervisor or field superintendent on a construction project
- You have an advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control and engineering drawings
- You have the ability to quickly identify problem situations, evaluate alternative causes, produce workable solutions and lead a large team to successful completion
- Work requires moderate physical exertion, visual and/or auditory concentration, manual dexterity and/or strain
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and in a group setting
