Job Overview
Reporting to the Director, Branch Operations, as the Manager, Manufacturing you are responsible to oversee the Production Managers and the Millwright. The focus is on the safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing facilities, supporting staffing needs, ensuring equipment is maintained and making recommendations for process and equipment upgrades.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating as a member of the Branch Leadership team to execute strategic plans for the goals of the branch.
- Fostering a culture of collaboration, efficiency, and innovation within work environment.
- Driving process improvement in production techniques, inventory utilization, quality of finished goods, and cost reduction.
- Supporting manufacturing facility practices to ensure cost accounting processes are being followed and capturing accurate material and labour costs.
- Ensuring timely and accurate monthly inventory counts are completed and reviewed for variances.
- Fostering cooperation and consistency between Calgary manufacturing facilities in inventory management and production processes.
- Promoting safe work environment and ensuring all manufacturing employees adhere to Star’s Safety Program and relevant safety regulations.
- Maintaining machinery, technological tools, plant infrastructure and capital programs.
- Supporting projects, initiatives, and/or activities relating to Manufacturing as directed.

Essential Requirements
- Degree/Diploma in Business, Engineering, or related.
- 5 years of wood production experience in the residential construction industry.
- Lean manufacturing training (informal / formal).
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Satisfactory verification of criminal record check.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint), and other required software, equipment, or technical processes.

Working Conditions
You primarily work in an office and manufacturing setting during regular business hours. Travel to sites and overtime may occasionally be required.
