Manager, PR & Corporate Communications (12-Month Contract)

Quark Expeditions is the leading polar expedition travel company headquartered in Toronto, Canada. We operate cruises to Antarctica and Arctic regions (Greenland, North Canada, Svalbard) aboard three modern polar expedition ships – Ultramarine, Ocean Explorer, and World Explorer. Since 1991, Quark has established a tradition of firsts in polar travel: from transiting the Northeast Passage with adventure travellers to circumnavigating the Antarctic continent. Quark Expeditions is part of Travelopia, the world’s leading experiential travel business, owned by KKR.

We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Manager, Public Relations & Corporate Communications to join our Marketing team. Reporting to the VP of Marketing, you’ll lead storytelling efforts that captivate media, elevate our brand, and connect our audience to the extraordinary adventures Quark delivers. This is your chance to shape how the world sees us—through powerful narratives, strategic communication, and proactive media engagement.

What we’ll offer:

  • Competitive base salary: $115,000–$120,000 CAD
  • Hybrid work environment (Toronto-based)
  • Health & dental benefits
  • RRSP matching
  • Travel perks
  • Paid vacation & sick time
  • Career growth opportunities within Travelopia

What you’ll do:

Communication Strategy

  • Lead the creation and execution of bold, thoughtful PR and communication strategies that bring our brand to life.
  • Build a structured, relationship-first approach to engaging press and media partners.
  • Spot and seize opportunities to tell compelling stories that raise awareness and spark excitement about Quark.
  • Stay ahead of trends to keep our voice fresh, relevant, and ahead of the curve.
  • Measure impact, learn fast, and evolve strategies to maximize results.
  • Turn campaign insights into action and contribute directly to business growth and visibility.

Media Relations & Press Materials

  • Drive our PR calendar with energy, purpose, and precision.
  • Craft standout press releases with a strong news hook, a human voice, and clear messaging.
  • Pitch and secure executive interviews, panels, and speaking opportunities to position Quark as a category leader.
  • Build long-lasting media relationships that generate trust and buzz.
  • Work with ambassadors, journalists, and aligned organizations to amplify our reach.
  • Monitor media daily, track content, and guide internal teams with insight.
  • Lead our awards strategy—from submission to spotlight—and bring our achievements to the forefront.

Corporate Communications

  • Write and refine talking points, messages, and scripts that resonate with customers and partners.
  • Ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency across customer-facing content like travel docs, health info, and FAQs.
  • Coach our leaders and team members to show up confidently in interviews and public moments.
  • Collaborate across teams and levels to keep messaging aligned, inclusive, and inspiring.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in PR, Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of hands-on experience in PR and corporate communications.
  • A passion for storytelling—and the ability to write clearly, creatively, and persuasively across formats.
  • Proven success building relationships with media and securing impactful coverage.
  • Strong instincts for newsworthiness and audience engagement.
  • Up-to-date on digital and traditional media trends, including SEO-savvy PR tactics.
  • Able to zoom out for strategy and dive in for the details—especially when it comes to writing.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and energized by fast-paced, team-driven environments.
  • Travel or tourism experience is a bonus—but not a must.

Our Commitment to Inclusion:

We believe people thrive when they can show up as their true selves—and that diverse teams build better ideas, stronger communities, and more meaningful impact.

Travelopia is proud to create inclusive, accessible environments where everyone can succeed. If you require support or accommodations during the application process, reach out to us at: [email protected]
