We are currently seeking a Coordinator Communications, Events & Professional Studies to join our Continuing and Professional Studies team.
Job Overview
Reporting to the Divisional Business Manager of Continuing and Professional Studies (CPS) , the Coordinator, Communications, Events, and Professional Studies is responsible for implementing comprehensive communications, event, and professional studies plans for CPS. The Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing an ongoing communications plan that enhances the profile of KPU’s CPS programs including visibility, branding, positioning, community relations, advertising and promotions of programs. This person is also responsible for developing and implementing an ongoing events plan and professional studies plan that expands the activities of CPS and positions it as a world class hub of excellence.
The Coordinator, Communications, Events and Professional Studies is responsible for collaborating with staff members within the department who perform website, digital signage, and social media activities and other related functions. These functions will enable CPS to optimize student recruitment and retention, promote the programs, events, and offerings as well as increase the level of the brand awareness and the public’s institutional awareness.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Graphic Design for Marketing, Business, or Communications. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
- Minimum of 3 years directly related experience in marketing and communications as well as experience directly related to program coordination, development and community education programming, including successfully writing proposals.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated experience with planning and coordinating events ideally in an institutional or corporate environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage budgets.
- Ability to assemble, analyse and format compilations of enrolment related data.
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals at all levels internally as well as with external stakeholders in the communities.
- Experience with using social media outlets including Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, LinkedIN, Instagram, Pinterest, (and others) as well as Wikis and blogs
- Demonstrated strategic experience and success in researching, developing, managing and measuring successful website marketing campaigns, social media, digital signage and other related marketing and communications tasks.
- Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills for different types of media (print and electronic) with an eye for detail, design, content, and brand.
- Outstanding interpersonal communications skills and ability to develop positive public relations.
- Demonstrated proficiency and experience in web and graphic design and using publishing software including Photoshop, Word, Adobe Creative Suite CS5, Microsoft Office and Acrobat.
- Strong knowledge and proven experience working and managing content management platforms (CMS) systems, website design software and programming languages and knowledge of internet protocols and services.
- Ability to work as a team member, exercise discretion, and good judgment in dealing with confidential and/or controversial University matters.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.

Salary Information
Salary and wage increments are in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
