What You’ll Do
As the Planning & Logistics Specialist, you are responsible for coordinating the transportation operations of delivery of dedicated freight to meet contractual requirements in a 24-hour environment, Monday through Sunday service.
This worker must understand the impact of this position to other business functions that depend on the accuracy and efficiency of trucking operations.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- SCHEDULING & ROUTING: Plan and assign routes for drivers to their destinations with precision and care. Ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods while optimizing routes and schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
- COMMUNICATION: Maintain professional and ongoing communication with drivers, customers and our terminals, to provide real-time updates, instructions and provide support as needed.
- LOAD MANAGEMENT: Ensure loads are properly assigned and managed, including tracking and documentation of goods.
- PROBLEM SOLVING: Address and resolve any issues that arise during transportation, such as delays or mechanical problems. Work closely with customers, internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain stellar service levels.
- COMPLIANCE: Ensure all operations comply with industry and safety regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, driver performance and prepare reports as needed.
- CUSTOMER SERVICE: Provide excellent service to customers and all stakeholders addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally. Collaborate with other departments to streamline routes and boost efficiency.
What You Need to Get the Job Done
- Previous experience in LTL, FTL dispatching or logistics is required.
- Proficiency with customer service, dispatch softwares and telematics systems.
- Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and web-based systems; experience, WMS & TMS is an asset.
- Ability to work independently, thrive in a dynamic environment, and take direction well from management.
- Excellent communication skills verbal and writing, problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle changing priorities
- Strong safety mindset and experience in safety-sensitive environments.
- Ability to speak both English and Hindi/Punjabi is an asset
