Progressive Rubber Industries is a leader in the manufacturing of abrasion and corrosion resistant components for the Mining, Aggregate and Power Industries. We have been in business in Kamloops BC, since 1997.
Position Summary:
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring logistics operations including shipping, receiving, inventory control, and transportation of large, heavy loads. This role requires a proactive communicator with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a hands-on approach. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience coordinating logistics in industrial settings and direct involvement in loading/unloading operations.
Roles and Responsibilities
Logistics Planning & Coordination:
- Coordinate and schedule incoming and outgoing shipments of heavy equipment, fabricated parts, and raw materials.
- Develop and maintain delivery schedules to meet production and customer requirements.
- Liaise with freight companies, drivers, and internal departments to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
- Prepare and review shipping documentation (BOLs, customs paperwork, MTRs, packing lists, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and site-specific delivery protocols.
Yard & Dock Oversight:
- Supervise and assist with the physical loading and unloading of oversized and heavy materials.
- Verify that handling methods align with safety standards and prevent material damage.
- Ensure proper equipment (e.g., forklifts, cranes, spreader bars) is available and used appropriately for each load.
- Coordinate yard staging and storage of inbound and outbound items to optimize space and minimize delays.
Inventory & Material Handling:
- Monitor and track shipments, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Support the receiving process by validating material against POs and ensuring proper documentation flow.
- Identify, tag, and segregate materials based on priority, destination, or job requirements.
Communication & Coordination:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, couriers, and internal departments regarding logistics inquiries.
- Communicate any delays, damages, or issues to stakeholders promptly and professionally.
- Work closely with project managers, fabrication leads, and procurement to align material movement with job progress.
Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce and model compliance with safety regulations during all logistics activities.
- Conduct pre-load inspections and ensure loads are secure and safe for transit.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free loading/unloading area.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in a logistics coordinator or similar role in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience operating equipment and directing rigging operations for heavy loads.
- Solid understanding of DOT regulations, load securement, and WHMIS standards.
- Proficiency with logistics software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience reading and identifying parts from drawings.

Pay: $45,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
