The Opportunity:
The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for a Line Foreperson to fill a permanent full-time position. This is participation and supervisory work at the journeyperson level in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission lines.
As our preferred candidate, you will have:
- Possession of a certificate as a Journeyperson Powerline Technician.
- Considerable experience as a Journeyperson Powerline Technician.
- Previous supervisory experience an asset.
- Considerable knowledge of the approved methods, materials, tools and equipment used in electrical line installation and maintenance work.
- Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and the proper safety precautions.
- Knowledge of the principles of electrical theory as applied to electrical power circuits and distribution systems.
- Knowledge of first aid including CPR.
- Ability and willingness to climb poles and to work among high tension wires, exercising proper safety precautions.
- Ability to understand and follow oral instructions quickly and accurately.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees.
- Skill in the use of lineman tools and equipment.
- Good physical condition; and sufficient strength and agility to climb poles, to perform manual tasks in relation to line construction, and to work under adverse weather conditions.

Remuneration:
$67.97 to $70.80 per hour (As per the IBEW Local 254 Collective Agreement)
Hours of Work:
80 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday; some evening and weekend work may be required.
