We’re growing and looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive Legal Assistant/Paralegal with strong skills in family law and wills and estates to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a tech-savvy environment, demonstrate excellent organizational skills, and manage multiple projects with ease. This role is perfect for someone who takes initiative and is committed to providing exceptional administrative support and client service in a busy law office setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide executive administrative support to lawyers, including calendar management, scheduling, and coordinating meetings.
- Draft, proofread, and review legal documents and correspondence for accuracy and compliance.
- Conduct legal research and assist with case preparation.
- Manage case files using document management systems such as LEAP.
- Support litigation by preparing hearing/trial binders and managing discovery documents.
- Assist with client communication, including interviews and updates.
- Organize and maintain filing systems for legal documents and case files.
- Perform accurate data entry while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role within a law office setting.
- Experience in family law (including litigation) and wills and estates.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and drafting skills.
- Proficiency with legal technology (LEAP experience an asset).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Attention to detail for document review, proofreading, and case management.
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with effective phone etiquette.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Post-secondary education in paralegal studies or a related field is preferred but not required.
