Reporting to the Manager of Virtual Services and Clinical Applications, the Team Lead (TL) will collaborate to support the integrated team of Project Managers and EMR Analysts.
Providing regular leadership, the TL will provide strategic guidance to project and analyst teams to ensure successful project outcomes and optimal operational service levels. The TL, with support from system vendors and other specialists, will design, plan, implement and maintain the hospitals clinical systems and patient portal, as well as subsequent upgrades to those systems. The role combines people and project leadership, project and product management, and continuous improvement. TL will demonstrate excellent communication and engagement skills, regularly partnering and developing strong working relationships with stakeholders internal and external to WCH for management of clinical applications and various virtual projects. Together with the Manager and Senior Analysts, the TL will support the achievement of project and service excellence across the team.

Summary of Duties, but not limited to:

• Proactively identifies barriers/threats/risks for project completion and works with team members including Analysts, Project Managers and Clinicians to develop solutions
• Implements quality control process for projects and operations of the clinical information system(s)
• Provides and/or coordinates training and direction to Analysts, Senior Analysts, Project Managers and Students
• Acts as an expert resource to team members
• Trains and supervises the day-to-day activities of analysts and students
• Plans and coordinates the staffing of strategic and operational projects
• Acts as the point of contact when service desk tickets and incidents and concerns are escalated from Senior Analysts
• Monitors the progress and deadlines of project activities, develops and maintains records of project activities, and establishes and maintains operating policies and procedures
• Coordinates the day-to-day activities of any staff specifically engaged in the carrying out of operational updates and projects for one or more projects within the IM&IT team, as appropriate to their position
• Responsible for collaborating with Stakeholders and other relevant partners involved in the project both internally and externally
• Plans, monitors, and manages analyst and senior analyst time allocation to various projects and operational activities
• Develops an in-depth understanding of an assigned application within the clinical information system Epic (e.g., myChart, Ambulatory); leads day-to-day management and product evolution of the assigned application, including but not limited to the leadership of Analysts and Senior Analysts through product management development cycles, meetings, work groups, etc.
• Develops product vision, and roadmaps detailing out how enhancements can be built to improve product offerings or add to existing application workflows and use cases
• Works with end users to understand, document and analyze clinical workflows relevant to the assigned application
• Regularly liaises with EMR vendor support contacts, keeping regular awareness of tasks, milestones, issues, risks, opportunities, etc. related to the EMR
• Provides support for upgrades/updates, fixes, patches, new implementations, full system testing and go-live planning
• Identifies, investigates, plans and executes on opportunities for both operational (e.g. improve efficiency, effectiveness) and quality improvements (e.g. improve accuracy, precision, safety) within the team
• Effectively communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion, including preparing regular reporting as required to communicate activity and progress, milestones and other key project metrics.
• Oversees and participates in strategic/policy decisions and operational plans for program design, development and execution, working directly with internal and external project and clinical teams.
• Collaborates on activities to support the Women’s Virtual Learning Health System
• Commits to an approach to project design and implementation that constantly builds towards a health system with equity of access, quality and care outcomes.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Completion of a Graduate Degree in Health Informatics or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in a directly related field preferred.
• Ability to travel to the United States to complete training required
• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork with the ability to lead a diverse group of individuals
• Strong ability with system analysis and design.
• Strong problem solving and resolution skills.
• Strong background in customer service.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to oversee several projects with competing priorities.
• Strong ability to produce high quality reports and meet deadlines.
• Strong initiative and self-managing skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment with a wide variety of people at different levels
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills; works well independently, uses good judgment, and takes initiative
• Proficiency in MS Office, MS Visio, and MS Project.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good work and attendance record required
