Hours Part Time - up to 24 hours per week; includes days, evenings and weekends.
Other Some travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes may be necessary in accordance with job requirements.
Job Description
- Operate a commercial scale, enter load information in a computer system, weigh customer load, calculate fees, collect payments using both cash and debit transactions, prepare charge and cash tickets, and issue receipts
- Maintain a working cash float, prepare deposit slips and reconciliation forms as well as make bank deposits
- Verify residence of customers and check list of denied landfill users and deny use of landfill if person is on list
- Input ticket information into computer database, perform computer daily backup and monthly download
- Direct landfill users to appropriate area, inspect loads to ensure only acceptable refuse enters the site and notify appropriate personnel of loads containing questionable waste material
- Maintain order and cleanliness of grounds including but not limited to cutting grass, snow removal, painting, sweeping, and litter collection, at any of the active and inactive City landfill sites
- Segregate incoming materials moving to appropriate location/bin, and/or manually stack or package items (i.e. tires, electronics, scrap metal, hazardous waste,) for shipment
- Prepare incident reports and other documentation
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills/Education Required
- Secondary School diploma
- Experience in handling cash and receipts preferred
- WHIMS, First Aid, CPR preferred
- Effective oral communication and strong interpersonal skills to deal with members of the public, council and all levels of staff
- Demonstrated time-management skills with the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Ability to work independently or as an effective member of a team
- Must have legible and accurate writing ability, along with mathematical skills for cash handling duties
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet, and any other related software
- Possess and maintain a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence
