We are currently recruiting a highly motivated Junior: Purchaser :to join the Procurement Team at our Edmonton facility. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Junior Purchaser will be responsible for the timely procurement of both stock and non-stock inventory for resale in accordance with Price Steel’s purchasing practices, ensuring cost competitive inventory commensurate with quality. The successful candidate will promote and maintain a high level of communication and liaison with the external supplier community and Price Steel departments.

- Monitor and analyze inventory and deliveries to ensure quality, quantity, and cost guidelines are in adherence with Price Steel’s purchasing practices and strategy
- Provide concise and accurate administration and preparation of purchase orders and other required documents involved with the procurement process
- Maintain supplier relationships to ensure capability of supply is in alignment with the business needs and that issues are addressed in a proactive manner
- Proactively resolve outstanding concerns with suppliers
- Provide technical support and guidance to the Sales Department in identifying and recommending solutions to customer needs
- Research and provide constant feedback to the Purchasing Department and the Management group relative to inventory shortages and supplier’s capacity and capabilities
- Research materials for price, quality, and new sources on an on-going basis as part of continuous improvement efforts
- Locate and develop new sources of stock and non-stock inventory as required

Essential Skills and Experience: :
- Knowledge of carbon steel products is essential
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressive purchasing or procurement experience
- High level of organization and planning
- Proven track record of strong negotiation and persuasion skills
- Effective communication, both written and verbal; including telephone aptitude and the ability to interface with suppliers and personnel at all levels within Price Steel
- Ability to work under general directions within established purchasing practices
- Competency with computer applications used in business, such as MS Office and Excel
- A high degree of professional integrity, ethics and confidentiality is required at all times
