Jr. Financial Analyst
The Junior Financial Analyst provides both technical and business analytical support to Maple Reinders Group and its affiliated companies in such a manner as to provide timely and accurate preparation and analysis of data related to Project and Fiscal budgets. In addition to proactively monitoring business trends and identifying risks and opportunities, this role will assist the Sr Financial Analyst in focusing on project cost management, project trend analysis and providing ad-hoc support for various financial requests.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the processing of subcontract invoicing and payments: ensure alignment with project progress, contract values, terms, and compliance requirements.
- Resolve subcontractor statement variances and requests for compliance documentation.
- Complete monthly and yearly close activities including account and bank reconciliations, account analyses, HST remittances, and financial and management reporting.
- Assist with analyzing and reviewing monthly project projections, cost allocations and KPIs and prepare adjusting entries.
- Assist in the preparation of annual overhead budgets in conjunction with operational and corporate management.
- Review overhead budget to actual variances and provide value add variance commentary on financial results and key business indicators to support further review.
- Support A/P on project specific requests that require liaising with project managers to determine appropriate resolution.
- Assist in the review and development of processes to identify areas for improvements.
- Analyze data and prepare related reports for operational/project forecast purposes.
- Support the collection of information during the annual audit by external auditors.
- Assist with ad-hoc requests from management and various departments.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics/Statistics, Business.
- Experience in financial planning and/or analysis.
- Working towards a business-related designation is a plus (i.e. CPA, CFA, MBA).
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, in particular the analytical features of the program.
- Proficient in MS Office and Windows-based computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to use/learn industry specific software programs such as Timberline.
